The Aramaic language is usually subdivided into five distinct periods: Ancient, Imperial, Middle, Late and Modern. Each of these phases has their own character which will be underlined during this conference. As it’s well known, from the Middle Aramaic onward, the Aramaic language was conditioned by historical and political circumstances that divided this language into many dialects that could be considered as languages because of their development along the centuries in a different region and among different people.
